Hello all! I've been working on a new version of the oblique cross cylinders calculator and I thought it was time to introduce it to you.

Of course, the underlying math and optics of these calculations haven't changed. However, I thought it was time to give the calculator a facelift for several reasons.

For one, the current calculator was was done in Flash. Flash has been great, and I got a little Flash-crazy on EyeDock a few years back, but I think it's time to start purging it from our website.

One of the biggest reasons for reducing or eliminating Flash on EyeDock is the fact that it does not work very well (or at all) on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets. I've succumbed to the reality that I can't make a separate version of EyeDock for iOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry, etc etc. However, this doesn't mean I can't find ways to make the website work better regardless of where you're accessing it from.

Oblique ORI also wanted to make the calculator have a bit of a show your work aspect. I've never been very comfortable with people just punching in numbers and blindly trusting the results. I don't think people want to see a bunch of sine/cosine/tangent functions (unless your geeky like me), but I thought it would be helpful to see the optical crosses that illustrate the trigonometry of these calculations. I hope this makes the results more intuitive, although I fear that they may sometimes be a source of confusion.

I'm going to introduce this new tool along side the other once. I'm one guy writing programs in my evenings and sometimes it's difficult to test my work for all scenarios, all platforms, all browsers, etc. I'm please with all my testing thus far, so I'm going to turn this loose on you guys - if you experience any problems let me know.
